Satellite Showdown: China Targets Starlink in Simulated Operations, Raising PLA Concerns.
Chinese scientists have conducted a simulation that shows they can target and potentially destroy Elon Musk's Starlink satellite network. The simulation, led by Wu Yunhua, found that just 99 Chinese satellites could successfully approach around 1,400 Starlink satellites within 12 hours. These Chinese satellites could be equipped with lasers, microwaves, and other tools for tracking and reconnaissance.
The simulation highlights China's growing concerns about the militarization of space and the potential threat posed by Starlink. China views Taiwan as a breakaway province and is worried that Taiwan's access to Starlink could impede China's military operations.
In response, China has been developing its own satellite network, the Qianfan mega-constellation project, which aims to launch over 15,000 low-Earth orbit satellites. China is also working on new technologies to counter
